About

A brokerage built in layers.

Corbel Risk began in 2011 with three people in a Denver loft. We are now a team of specialists who place commercial insurance in 38 states.

Our story

Why we started.

Dana Whitlock started Corbel Risk after watching a contractor client learn, mid-claim, that his excess policy did not follow the terms of his primary. The layers had been bought separately and nobody had checked how they fit.

We built the firm around that lesson. A commercial insurance program is a structure, and each layer has to carry the load above it. We design the whole tower first, then choose carriers for each layer.

Today we place more than 900 accounts with over 60 carriers and wholesale markets. We still keep the team small and specialized, so the person who builds your program is the person who answers your call.

Values

How we decide.

  1. 01

    Read the contract

Coverage is decided by wording. We read the policy and your contracts line by line and tell you what they say, including the parts that work against you.

  2. 02

    Build the whole structure

We design limits, retentions and layers together before we approach a carrier, so gaps show up on paper instead of in a claim.

  3. 03

    Stay through the claim

A policy is only as good as the payout. A named advocate stays on every claim with the carrier until it is paid or resolved.
